A family burial is being held at Elfros Cemetery on November 15, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2025. Narfason’s caring staff assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
Phyllis was born in Foam Lake to Irene and Ernie Reynolds on March 8, 1929. She married Stewart Hunter on August 1,1950. Phyllis lived in Elfros until 2012 when she moved to Wynyard and lived on her own until the day she passed.
Over the years she enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, knitting, making puzzles, and watching curling, football, and hockey. Phyllis volunteered at the Elfros Legion, Elfros Church, Ladies Auxiliary and at the curing rink. She loved her hot holidays to Hawaii and Mexico and her many trips to Campbell River.
Her children will remember her for her unconditional love and guidance, sharp wit, feistiness, generosity, and support. Her grandchildren will miss childhood sleepovers, seeing Gramma wave goodbye out her window, and afternoon tea on Sunday. Her great grandchildren will miss Ice Cream Gramma’s knitting, scuffles, cookies, cuban lunches and ice cream.
Phyllis is survived by her sisters Lillian (Lloyd) and Elaine, sister-in-laws Ella and Jean; her children Lorne (Lorene), Mervin (Laura), Marie (David); her grandchildren Leah (Michael), Tera (Mitchell), Jana (Angus), Eric (Kaitlyn), and Shea; and her great grandchildren Teya, Harrison, Cali, and Wade. She is preceded by her parents Ernie and Irene, her husband Stewart, her son Rodney, and her siblings Florence, Frank, Bernice, Doris, Harry, and Virgil.
Memorial donations may be made to Elfros Union Church or Elfros Community Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Narfason family, Dr. Crystal Litwin, nurses, and staff at the Wynyard Hospital, and Midway Ambulance staff for their care and compassion for our Mom, Gramma, and Great-Gramma.
